Tatlin Tower

As part of a Russian revolution festival at Central Saint Martins, I assisted in designing and building a version of Tatlin tower. The project stemmed from Vladimir Tatlin’s monument to the third international, it was largely criticised for its large need for steel, more than Russia could produce as its manifestation would be over 400 meters high. Although the idea was never realised for Tatlin, it had a powerful message of union. Unbuilt ideas have the power to inspire and explore utopian futures. Working as a team we explored different joinery techniques to produce a parametric and eco friendly design through the use of recycled ply wood and carboard tubes.
